Have you heard that the Big Island of Hawaii doesn't have many beaches? Actually, the Big Island has over 100 beaches. New ones are being formed and some disappear frequently, due to lava flow. Some beaches are a little difficult to access, some are very difficult to access, and some are hidden by hotels and resorts. Some are located off of unmarked roads.

You will find a variety of sand on Big island Beaches: salt and pepper, black, green and white. Black sand is formed from lava cooling and shattering when entering the ocean. Green sand is made up of olivine crystals, a semi-precious mineral. With contrasts of blue sky, black lava, green and white sand, the ocean and mountains, you will find each of the Big Island's beaches beautiful in its own way.

Here are some beaches that are recommended by Kauai Photographers and Wedding Planners as ideal Wedding Sites.

If you have held or attended a wedding at any of these locations, please "rate it" as a Wedding Site by clicking on the star under the photo. Mahalo!
